A winter visit to Port Townsend, WA

My husband keeps telling me that I need to write about the places we visit more. I am always looking for the next adventure or place to go. I guess you could say that I am a little nomadic. At times I hate that we have a house and jobs that keep us anchored. I often dream of dropping everything to travel and find the perfect place. When I get the itch, I find that small weekend trips help and we try to take as many big trips as we can. One thing I noticed is that the more tips I take the more I enjoy coming back to my little house.

Our most recent weekend trip took us to a small town in Northwest Washington, the town of Port Townsend. I loved it! Such a cute little town with lots to offer.

We stayed at a little hotel near the waterfront called The Swan Hotel. The hotel has 9 rooms and 4 small Cottages. The room was clean and had everything you needed. The front desk even has DVDs you can check out for the night. My only complaint is that the bed could have been a little more comfy.

The next day we got up and had breakfast the Hudson Point Café, just a little walk from our room. A small and cute café that sits right on the waterfront with wonderful views of the marina and bay. The food and service was excellent.

Afterwards we walked around the cute downtown area. If you are a shopper this is a must! Port Townsend truly has some great shops.

Next we headed over to Soak on the Sound. My favorite part of this trip. Soak on the Sound is a day spa offering private salt water soaking tubs, a sauna and massage. We got one of the private soaking tubs and it was wonderful and worth it at $22 a person.

Last we headed over to The Fountain for a late lunch. The food here was a real treat. I grabbed a card on the way out the description on the card said “electric northwest cuisine” such an accurate description. This is a tiny café so be prepared to have an intimate experience.

We had to cut our tip short because we had our little nephew arrive into the world that day, but we will be back. You would have no problem filling the whole weekend in Port Townsend.

Looking back on our trip to Montana

I have had travel on my mind a lot as of late. Trying to figure out where and when my next trip will be. This has brought up memories of my past travel. Today, I can’t get Montana off of my mind.

It has been just over a year since our trip to Montana. On the Montana agenda was visiting West Yellowstone, the small town of Bigfork and of course visiting with family in Bigarm. This trip was extra special because of the people we were with. We had my dad, aunt and family from Australia with us.

The first thing on the agenda was spending a little time the family and enjoying the view in Bigarm MT, before getting on the road to West Yellowstone.

After a nice evening with the family, we were off to the small town of Bigfork. I just loved it here. Such a cute town with great shopping and good fudge. This town is a must if you are in the Flathead Lake area.

Next on the agenda was the main attraction, West Yellowstone! We only spent 2 nights in West Yellowstone. You really need more time. There is so much nature to see as well as lots of good shopping in town.

In West Yellowstone, we stayed at the Moose Creek Inn, in one of their cabins. This was perfect for us. It had one bedroom and a living area with a bed as well. The staff here was very friendly. If I go back to West Yellowstone this is a place we would stay again. It was also conveniently located next to the main shopping area and Taqueria Las Palmitas, a Mexican food truck that is a must try.

Okay, now on to the park. We did a day tour in the park. It worked out great for us with the large party we had and the time schedule. The Park was wonderful, if you have not been in it, it is a must! Add it to you list of places to travel now!  We can not wait till we get the opportunity to return and explore more.

I think the photos of the park speak for themselves. You must get out to Yellowstone! Life is too short not to get out and see the world!
